Introduction to Stainless Steel & Non-Rusting Iron


Stainless steel is a key industrial material widely used in reactors, Heat Exchangers and tanks produced by Henan AIX Boiler. Based on National Stainless Steel Standard, we introduce professional knowledge.

1. Definition & Classification of Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a general term for stainless steel and acid-resistant steel. It has a history of more than 90 years.
• Stainless steel: resists weak corrosion like air, steam and water
• Acid-resistant steel: resists chemical corrosion like acid, alkali and salt

By structure:
• Martensitic (including precipitation hardening)
• Ferritic
• Austenitic
• Austenitic-ferritic duplex

By composition: Cr steel, Cr-Ni steel, Cr-Ni-Mo steel, etc.
By function: low temperature, non-magnetic, free cutting, etc.


2. Definition & Features of Non-Rusting Iron

Non-rusting iron is made from recycled scrap iron and steel. It cannot be identified by traditional magnet test and is often used to counterfeit stainless steel.

Price: standard stainless steel ~20,000 RMB/ton; non-rusting iron only 5,000–7,000 RMB/ton.
Performance: tensile strength 160–180MPa, less than 1/3 of standard stainless steel (530–620MPa), low strength and high risk.

3. Industrial Equipment Material Selection

Non-rusting iron is strictly prohibited in pressure equipment such as reactors, boilers and heat exchangers.
All stainless steel products of Henan AIX Boiler adopt national standard 304 or above to ensure strength, corrosion resistance and service life.
